Liposuction & Body Contouring in Korea
Liposuction removes localised fat to refine contours — it is not a weight-loss method. Korean clinics offer various techniques (traditional, power/ultrasound-assisted) across areas such as abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, and chin. Multi-area or large-volume cases carry more considerations.
| Surgery time | Roughly 1–3 hours (varies with number of areas) |
|---|---|
| Anesthesia | Local + sedation, or general (extent-dependent) |
| Hospital stay | Usually outpatient; compression garment for several weeks |
| Back to routine | About 1–2 weeks |
| Final result | Contour emerges over weeks to months |
General information, not medical advice. Suitability, outcomes, and risks vary by individual — discuss your case with a board-certified surgeon. Seoul Medical Insider matches patients to accredited clinics and does not perform procedures.
How it works
Liposuction removes localised fat through tiny incisions. A typical sequence:
- Planning & marking: treatment areas are marked while you stand.
- Anesthesia: local + sedation, or general for larger cases.
- Tumescent fluid: a saline solution with anesthetic and vasoconstrictor is infused to numb the area and limit bleeding.
- Suction: a thin cannula is moved through the fat via small incisions to break it up and suction it (traditional, power-, or ultrasound-assisted).
- Finishing: tiny incisions are closed or left to drain; a compression garment is fitted.
It contours rather than reducing weight; your surgeon sets safe volume limits.
Cost · as of 2026
Through Seoul Medical Insider patients pay no markup — accredited-clinic pricing is passed through transparently, and you get a written all-in quote before deciding.
What drives the price: number and size of areas, technique, anesthesia, garments, and surgeon. More areas/volume = higher cost.

Who it is for
Often suited to people near a stable weight with localised, diet/exercise-resistant fat and reasonable skin elasticity. Not a substitute for weight loss. A surgeon assesses fat type, skin quality, and goals.
Recovery
- Week 1: compression garment worn; soreness/bruising; light walking encouraged.
- Weeks 2–4: garment continues (often several weeks); swelling eases; gradual return to activity.
- Months 1–3: swelling resolves; final contour emerges over weeks to months.
Plan your stay for an initial post-op check. Timelines vary with extent.
Risks & considerations
Possible risks include swelling, bruising, contour irregularity/unevenness, fluid accumulation (seroma), numbness, infection, or — for larger-volume/multi-area cases — more significant considerations. Choosing an accredited clinic and discussing volume limits matters. Your surgeon details risks for your case.
